saturday
so we'd made plans friday night over a couple of whiskies to go to the western macs sat afternoon and camp out, as kat hasnt been there. so, we planned to meet up at 9.30 am at a really neat little cafe called bar dopios , and have breakfast and coffee and chai etc. well, i was there on time, which is unusual for me! .....kat and andrew turned up at about 11 am ...i had drunk quite a bit of coffee since then.....stil, a fine breakfast was had and then andrew had to go and pack up all his gear from his mates house, i had to go pack , so did kat, so we all went our seperate ways.
2 hours later everyones ready, so we pull out of alice springs, and set up the highway toward the macs.
we went to a few of the water holes i been to before (see previous macs stuff for photos etc) , and the day was wholly marvellous.
we ended up at red bank gorge for sunset and a swim in the water hole there.
then we set about making camp, gathering firewood, getting the swags rolled out etc.
of course then it was time to get the beer open, and talk crap for a while.
kat dosed off, so me and andrew (nick named longmo after his surname...apparantly.... andrew doesnt sound right) set the world to rights, religion , politics, people, past , future...as you do. turns out he used to drive road trains, these 3 or 4 trailer trucks, some weighing , i think the max is 178 tonnes....you know about it when one of those passes you...they big man!).
well, anyway , an awesome night.
we had a pot cooked casserole of lambshanks and roast yam on the coals of the fire, which was lucky , as that rhymes and i wrote a poem about it. (yes, im getting all girly over here.). my muse, what there is of it, has been visiting recently.
i may even put it up here if i feel brave enough.
longmo is an old friend of kats and it became apparant that they were getting to be slighlty more than friends as the evening wore on. strangley, i wasnt jealous,
well, not too much, yeah, well a bit at least, cos he is one of the coolest and most sorted people i have ever met.
im just keeping in the background. i think im too emotionally fucked up to be of any use to kat right now anyways. she has her own issues as we all do.
i am ecstatic to have met these two, these soul mates. not many people like that on the planet. im happy just to know them.
it was a beutifull evening, under the stars in swags next to the fire (a waterproof canvas cover with a matress in it, one of australias best inventions). you get woken up all the time by insect but thats part of the fun...apparantly.
friday
well, just typed all this out and then lost it. bugger.
friday was cool. kat arrived, with a guy who is one of the coolest people i have ever met , called andrew.
essentially we went to eat a meal at the place i used to work at , with a live band, playing all sorts of cool stuff, including the eels beutifull day. well, we had a great meal, and then went to see the matrix: revolutions, which was good, but too long and they should have m,ade 1 film out of the two last ones i reckon.
anyways, a great evening
